Sometimes you meet someone who touches your heart and reminds you of how precious life is. I had such an opportunity recently when I was able to work with Katie (through the Gold Hope Project organization) and it was one of those experiences that remind me why I got into photography in the first place.
Little Katie is in the process of fighting Leukemia and, from what I could see, she has been handling it better than most adults would. When I met with her, she was having a tough day, which was heartbreaking. But that didn’t stop her from enjoying the morning with her parents and taking full advantage of the fun balloons, glitter, and other gold items that her mom had provided for our shoot.
She laughed and played and cuddled and through it all was delightful. Thank you Katie (and your parents) for allowing me to take photos of this difficult, yet unforgettable, time. And thank you, too, for reminding me to enjoy the beauty that each day has to offer.
